GIS Analysis for Research 1 (GIS101)
Learn a range of simple GIS analyses to support research and teaching.
In this course you be introduced to a range of core analytic and spatial skills for humanities research. Having completed this course you will be able to clip and merge datasets, assess proximity, count the number of features in an area, summarise and map census data and identify the distance and direction between key features.
This course builds on skills developed in Mapping in ArcGIS Pro (GIS100). Participants in this course will need to have completed GIS100 or have some familiarity with ArcGIS. Contact Sandy Potter for further information (sandra.potter@anu.edu.au).
This course is run as 4 x 2.5hr modules (1 module per week).
When: GIS Analysis for Research 1 will run on Thursdays from 1:30pm-4pm from August 22 – September 12.
Where: Menzies Library Flex Lab (Level 3, Building 2)
There are 10 places allocated for CAP staff and HDR students in this training.
Please note: This free version of the course is available to ANU College of Asia and the Pacific (CAP) academic staff and PhD students only.
While the course is free for CAP staff and students, there is a $50 no-show fee per missed session unless you give 2 working days' notice (emergencies excepted).
Staff and HDR students within ANU, but outside CAP will need to apply for the course using the code GIS301. There are charges associated with that course.
