GIS103 - Introduction to Story Maps

Introduction to Story Maps (GIS103)

This course is for CAP staff and HDR students in the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific.

In this course you learn to use Story Maps, an easy to use story telling tool which allows you to weave a compelling narrative and share it with your audience. Developed by Esri (the Earth Sciences Research Institute), Story Maps offers a flexible approach to combining text, interactive or static maps, photos, videos and more into an immersive story.

Over 4 x 2-hr sessions, you will use well-designed templates and easy to implement layouts to develop a Story Map based on your own research. You will explore various templates available with the program, learn to create a quick online map, assemble your story and learn how to promote your Story Map once it is created. This will give you an effective and visually appealing way to communicate your research impact to governments, funding agencies, and the general public.

This course is run as 4 x 2hr modules (1 module per week).
